LS Eco Energy is accelerating its expansion in the Southeast Asian renewable energy grid market.
LS Eco Energy (CEO Lee Sang-ho) announced on the 11th that its subsidiary, Vietnamese production corporation LS-VINA, will supply power cables to a Philippine wind power project.
LS-VINA is set to supply power cables to the Kalayaan 2 wind farm project, which is being pushed forward by the Philippine government with an investment of approximately USD 150 million and an aim of completion of 2026.
The project involves building a wind farm with a capacity of approximately 100 MW in the Kalayaan and Paeta regions of Laguna, Philippines, and is considered key to expanding local renewable energy infrastructure. Once the wind farm is completed, it will be able to provide clean energy to approximately 85,000 households.
LS-VINA will supply MV (medium-low voltage) cables for the wind farm's power grid, thereby supporting stable power transmission. By participating in this project, LS Eco Energy hopes to contribute to the eco-friendly power grid in the Philippines and expand its presence in the Southeast Asian power infrastructure market.
“The Philippine government plans to increase the share of renewable energy to 50% by 2040,” explained an official from LS Eco Energy. “Accordingly, the government is actively pushing ahead with large-scale solar and wind power projects, and the number of private companies participating in these projects is also steadily increasing.”
With this wind farm project, LS Eco Energy is expanding its participation in local power grid projects following its supply of the Philippine IDC power grid. The company plans to expand its business to Indonesia, Malaysia, and other countries in the future to increase its presence in the global eco-friendly power grid market.
