LS Eco Energy (CEO Lee Sang-ho) is expanding its operations in the ASEAN data center power infrastructure market by supplying busducts to a hyperscale data center in Malaysia for the first time.
LS Eco Energy announced on the 17th that its Vietnamese subsidiary, LSCV, will supply busducts for a hyperscale data center currently being constructed by a global IT company in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The contract is valued at approximately $8 million (around KRW 12 billion), and LSCV plans to supply the products in stages according to the construction schedule.
Hyperscale data centers are massive facilities designed for AI and cloud services. As they require a large-scale power supply, busducts capable of transmitting high-capacity power are a core part of the infrastructure.
Johor Bahru is rapidly emerging as a new data center hub for global big tech companies due to its favorable environment for power supply and land acquisition. With a data center contract in Indonesia last October and this entry into Malaysia, LSCV is accelerating its expansion into the ASEAN market.
CEO Lee Sang-ho of LS Eco Energy said, "With the rapid growth of the data center market due to the proliferation of AI and cloud technologies, the demand for power infrastructure is also expanding." He added, "We will strengthen our power infrastructure business, including both busducts and power cables, to continuously increase our orders in the ASEAN data center market."
The expansion of AI data centers has spurred rapid growth in the global busduct market, and LS Cable & System is leveraging its technological prowess as the market share leader in the domestic busduct market. The company is supplying products primarily from its Gumi plant and LS Eco Energy's Vietnamese facility, and is also constructing a new plant in Mexico to meet the rising demand in North America.
