LS Eco Energy is expanding its presence in Southeast Asia as a power and communication infrastructure supplier for the AI data center market.

LS Eco Energy (CEO Lee Sang-ho) announced on the 14th that its Hai Phong production subsidiary, LS-VINA, will supply power cables for a mega AI data center construction project of Viettel Group, Vietnam's largest telecommunications company.

To be built in a new city near Hanoi, this 60 MW-class facility will be one of the largest AI infrastructure projects in northern Vietnam. It is being established to meet the growing demand for generative AI and cloud services, and the power demand will be equivalent to that of 40,000 to 50,000 households.

LS Eco Energy has recently supplied busducts and power transmission cables to hyperscale AI data centers being built by global big tech companies in Indonesia and Malaysia, and participating in this project will further strengthen its foothold in the Southeast Asian AI data center market.

The supplied products will be used in the power grid connecting the data center and the substations. AI data centers experience surges in power consumption and generate a lot of heat from their GPU-based high-density servers, so a stable power supply and highly reliable distribution infrastructure are essential.

With power and land constraints in Singapore, investment has moved into Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and Vietnam is actively joining the race to become an AI data center hub amid the proliferation of generative AI.

As the number one cable company in ASEAN, LS Eco Energy anticipates further business opportunities as Viettel expands investments in AI and communication infrastructure across Southeast Asia, which will further cement its dominant position in the market. In addition to its existing power solutions, the company also plans to ramp up its optical cable production capabilities to better respond to the growing demand for AI data centers.

"The AI data center market is expanding beyond server competition into a race for power and communication infrastructure," said Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy. "We will strengthen our efforts to target the global AI infrastructure market, with a focus on extra-high-voltage cables as well as power and optical communication solutions for data centers."
