LS Cable & System has begun implementing its strategy to enter the ASEAN submarine power grid market.

LS Cable & System announced on the 22nd that it reviewed the localization status of its HVDC power grid and submarine cable business at a workshop held in Vietnam, and that CEO Koo Bon-Kyu attended a dinner hosted by Eric Trump to expand its global network.

At the ASEAN Strategy Workshop held in Hanoi over two days starting on the 21st, LS Cable & System focused on discussing business strategies for responding to the expansion of AI data centers and renewable energy, as well as localization plans for its submarine cable business.

At the workshop, LS Cable & System executives and representatives of major affiliates, including LS Eco Energy and LS Marine Solutions, reviewed plans to expand local production infrastructure and implementation systems. In particular, the participants discussed measures to participate in the Vietnam-Singapore ultra-long-distance HVDC (high voltage direct current) submarine power grid construction project as a key agenda.

During the workshop, LS Cable & System executives met with Le Manh Hung, chairman of Vietnam's state-owned energy company PetroVietnam, to discuss the support measures required to build a submarine cable manufacturing plant, such as tax benefits and government subsidies.

Meanwhile, on the 21st, CEO Koo attended the groundbreaking ceremony dinner for the 2 trillion won resort development project being pushed forward by The Trump Organization. The invitation was a token of appreciation for LS Cable & System's investment in the U.S. submarine cable plant, and LS Cable & System is seeking to participate in the construction of the power and communications infrastructure needed for the resort.

“Vietnam is a strategic region that can grow into a key base for the global HVDC power grid,” said an official from LS Cable & System. “We will strengthen our leadership in the ASEAN market by expanding our business in all directions, including submarine cables, underground power grids, and data infrastructure.”
