LS Marine Solution announced on the 21st that it will open a sales office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and start full-scale entry into the Asia-Pacific region’s submarine infrastructure building market.

This decision is a strategic move by LS Marine Solution and is in line with the establishment of a local submarine cable plant by its affiliate LS EcoEnergy. The two companies plan to cooperate in building submarine power grids and communications networks throughout the Asia-Pacific region in the future.

In recent years, the demand for submarine infrastructure has been rapidly increasing in the Asian region due to construction of long-distance power grids between island countries, the spread of offshore wind power, the increase in AI data centers, and the expansion of investment in submarine communication networks by global big tech companies.

In particular, following Singapore's declaration that it will expand renewable energy imports, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and others countries have been actively pursuing long-distance HVDC (high voltage direct current) submarine transmission network projects connecting to Singapore.

“The construction of submarine cable networks is a difficult task that requires extensive experience and technical skills, as it is carried out under difficult conditions in terms of water depth, tidal current, topography, and weather,” said an official of LS Marine Solution. “With the opening of this office, we will further expand our business base in the Asian market.”

LS Marine Solution is a specialized submarine construction company that has been carrying out major projects in Korea and overseas for 30 years. It is the only company in Korea with experience in constructing both power grids and communication networks.

LS Marine Solution recently became the first Korean company to enter the overseas power grid market by winning a bid for the Taiwanese offshore wind power submarine cable project, and it has the potential to win a follow-up project worth 2.5 trillion won. The company has also won a bid for a Korea-Japan submarine communications network project promoted by Microsoft and Amazon, and is accelerating its entry into the communications infrastructure market.
