      ■ Meets new international fire-resistance standard, maintaining power supply at temperatures as high as 830℃
      ■ Single cable simplifies installation, saves space, and boosts safety
      ■ Improves fire response for high-rise buildings and large shopping malls, enhancing on-site safety

A new fire-resistant cable has been developed to enhance the safety of energy-intensive facilities such as AI data centers, semiconductor plants, high-rise buildings, and large shopping malls, while also improving the safety of on-site workers.

LS Cable & System announced on the 8th that it has commercialized Korea's first MV (medium-voltage) fire-resistant cable that meets the new international fire-resistance standard (IEC 60331-4).

This new product is optimized for energy-intensive infrastructure such as data centers, semiconductor plants, and large public facilities, as it can supply power even at temperatures as high as 830℃. Fire-resistant cables are essential for emergency power, evacuation facilities, and fire systems, all of which must maintain power for a certain period during a fire.

Previously, due to a lack of domestic standards, a complex installation process was often used instead, which involved covering general cables with fire-resistant paint and ducts. This not only created space and cost burdens, it also posed a high risk of safety accidents for workers operating at heights.

The new product replaces the previous three-step process (cable + paint + duct) with a single cable, simplifying installation and reducing both space and cost. But even more significantly, it greatly enhances the safety of on-site workers.

LS Cable & System completed performance evaluations by a national certification body immediately after the international standard for MV fire-resistant cables was established last December, and has now successfully commercialized its product.

A company official stated, "We will lead the market by simultaneously improving the power infrastructure stability and installation efficiency in line with the spread of advanced facilities such as AI data centers."

In 2019, LS Cable & System became the first in the industry to obtain the National Disaster Safety Product Certification for its LV (low-voltage) highly fire-resistant cable. This product can supply power for 180 minutes at 950℃, securing a 'golden time' 1.5 times longer than that of general products (830℃ for 120 minutes).
