LS Eco Energy (CEO Lee Sang-ho) has successfully exported its first busducts to Southeast Asia, marking a significant milestone as it accelerates its expansion into the region’s data center market.
On October 13, LS Eco Energy announced it will supply busducts to a data center under construction in Batam, Indonesia, through its Vietnamese manufacturing subsidiary, LSCV. This 50 MW hyperscale data center project is particularly significant, as it represents the first expansion of the company's busduct business beyond the domestic Vietnamese market to the broader Southeast Asian region.
A busduct is a power distribution system that uses flat conductors encased in a metal housing to supply large-capacity power within buildings. Compared to traditional power cables, busducts reduce energy loss by over 30% and minimize the risk of fires and electrical leaks, making them an ideal choice for large-scale data centers.
Building on the technology and expertise of LS Cable & System, which has the top market share in the Korean busduct market, LS Eco Energy established a production facility at its Vietnamese subsidiary LSCV in 2018. Since then, the company has expanded its market presence by focusing on plants, high-rise buildings, and data centers.
LSCV previously supplied busducts for the data center of Vietnam's state-owned telecom company Viettel. It has also delivered power cables for global data-center projects in the Philippines and Indonesia, which allowed it to secure valuable references in key markets.
Southeast Asia is a critical market, as global companies are rapidly increasing their investments in local data centers due to government policies on data localization and the growth of cloud and fintech services. Notably, Vietnam allows 100% foreign ownership of data centers, so large-scale investments from global tech giants are expected.
"The growing demand for power infrastructure fueled by increased investments in data centers will be a major growth opportunity for LS Eco Energy," said Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy. "We will lead the market with our full product lineup, which spans power cables to busducts for both power transmission and distribution."
