LS Cable & System will supply a high-capacity power supply system to the AI data centers of a global big tech company.

LS Cable & System announced on the 5th that it has signed a framework agreement with US Company A for the supply of busducts over the next three years.

LS Cable & System was registered as a global vendor for Company A following a rigorous screening process covering delivery, technology, and quality. Through this contract, the company will supply products to data centers that Company A is building in North America and other regions.

Although the specific volume has not been finalized, the supply is expected to begin with approximately KRW 20 billion this year and expand to a total of over KRW 500 billion over the next three years. The company stated that the supply scale could increase further and that it is also in negotiations for a contract with another global big tech company, Company B.

Kim Woo-tae, head of LS Cable & System’s Power Distribution Solution Division, stated, "This contract is our first large-scale deal with a global big tech company and will be a critical starting point for the busduct business to grow into hundreds of billions of won in annual revenue in the data center market," adding, "We will secure the leading position in the power infrastructure competition in the era of AI."

To respond to the increasing demand for data center power infrastructure, LS Cable & System is strengthening its global busduct production system connecting Korea, North America, and Vietnam. In particular, the completion of the new plant currently under construction in Mexico is expected to further enhance supply efficiency and delivery competitiveness for North American customers.

Its subsidiary, LS Eco Energy, is also accelerating entry into the Southeast Asian market, with a focus on its Vietnamese production corporation, LSCV. In October, it supplied busducts to a 50 MW class hyperscale data center in Indonesia, expanding its supply to major projects by big tech companies.

A company official said, "LS Eco Energy will cover the Southeast Asian market centered in Vietnam, and the LS Cable & System Mexico plant will cover the North American market. Together with Korea, we plan to establish a global production hub."

Busducts distribute high-capacity power through an arrangement of busbars (plate-shaped conductors) inside a metal casing. It is emerging as a core infrastructure component for high-power facilities such as data centers because it has lower energy loss, heat generation, and fire risk than traditional electric wires.
