■ First in domestic industry to secure Leadership grade, demonstrating global ESG competitiveness
■ Enhancing partner trust by meeting supply chain evaluation standards of global clients
■ Aligning with global standards through renewable energy roadmap and validation of net zero targets
LS Cable & System has further strengthened its ESG management competitiveness by becoming the only company in the domestic industry to achieve a Leadership grade in a global climate change response assessment.
LS Cable & System announced on January 19 that it has entered the Leadership tier by securing an A- grade in the 2025 climate change assessment released by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). This marks an increase of one increment from the previous year.
The CDP is a leading platform for the disclosure and assessment of climate change information, and is utilized by major financial institutions and global corporations worldwide. It comprehensively evaluates companies on their climate strategies, management of greenhouse gas emissions, responses to climate risks and opportunities, and supply chain engagement. Grades range from A to D, with A and A- representing the top-tier, or a Leadership ranking.
CDP ratings are also utilized as a standard for carbon management within the supply chains of major global clients, with key global project owners and customers reflecting CDP ratings when evaluating the climate response levels of their suppliers. By achieving the Leadership grade, LS Cable & System has demonstrated a significant improvement in its reliability as a sustainable supply chain partner in the global market.
In this assessment, LS Cable & System received high marks for managing its carbon emissions data on a consolidated basis, covering both domestic and overseas production corporations and subsidiaries, and for verifying such data against global standards. The company's approval from the Science Based Targets initiative for its 2050 net-zero target, along with its establishment of plans to expand renewable energy usage, were also reflected positively.
LS Cable & System plans to further advance its climate response capabilities. Starting in 2026, the company intends to systematically manage carbon risks by reflecting an internal carbon pricing system in investment decisions. It also aims to incrementally raise the carbon management level across its entire supply chain through supply chain due diligence and supplier training.
"Entering the CDP Leadership tier demonstrates that LS Cable & System’s climate strategy and execution have reached the highest global standards," said Jeong Kyung-hwan, head of ESG Management Strategy at LS Cable & System. "We will fulfill our corporate responsibilities by contributing to the construction of sustainable power infrastructure and the realization of a carbon-neutral society."
