On the 30th, LS Cable & System performed joint public–private–military marine environment clean-up activities in Donghae-si, Gangwon-do, in time for the Oceans Day (May 31). 

Approximately 200 people from LS Cable & System, the Korea Coast Guard Region – East, the East Coast Special Rescue Team of the Korea Coast Guard Special Rescue Unit, the Republic of Korea Navy First Fleet, and the Donghae-si Branch of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives took part in cleaning-up the area around Mukho Port. 

The participants ran an environmental clean-up campaign around Mukho Port and Hanseom Beach by plogging (picking up litter while jogging) and picking up domestic waste. 

In addition, around 60 members of the Special Unit of the Korea Coast Guard Region – East, the East Coast Special Rescue Team, and the Sea Salvage & Rescue Unit (SSU) dived into the water and collected waste fishing gear and tires. 

“Having achieved substantial growth since the submarine cable plant construction in Donghae-si in 2009, LS Cable & System organized this event in order to contribute to the preservation of the marine environment,” said an LS Cable & System official. “We will continue to pay close attention and dedicate our efforts to resolving environmental issues.”

Following its declaration of its ESG management vision of providing the “No. 1 eco-friendly cable solutions to lead a sustainable future” in June last year, LS Cable & System has strengthened ESG management by installing an ESG committee and an organization dedicated to ESG management, and expanding its eco-friendly product lineup.
