LS Cable & System Asia Ltd. (CEO Baek In-jae) announced on June 21st that its subsidiary LSCV (Ho Chi Minh City) has recently supplied optical cables to Viettel, Vietnam's largest mobile carrier.

Viettel is a state-owned company that occupies about 50% of the Vietnamese market, and it is conducting high-speed communication network construction projects in Southeast Asia and Africa as well as in Vietnam.

LSCV built new optical cable facilities in 2015 as demand for optical cables in Asia surged. Since then, based on the technological prowess of the Korean headquarters, it has secured competitiveness with technical products such as multi-core optical cables and external optical cables, and supplied them to Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and South America.

“This contract is meaningful in that it has expanded the customer base from small Internet operators to large telecommunication operators,” said Baek In-jae, CEO of LS Cable & System Asia Ltd. “We are also preparing to sign contracts with other major telecommunication operators in Vietnam.”

In Vietnam, the high-speed communication network construction business, which had stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has resumed, and as the construction of Internet data centers (IDC) increases, the demand for communication cables is also rapidly increasing.

“Communication cable facilities are in ‘full operation’ due to increases in domestic demand in Vietnam and exports to the US,” said the company. “We are expanding our business by expanding our facilities, and at the same time, we are trying to improve profitability by improving our product mix.”

LS Cable & System Asia Ltd. announced its plan to expand its facilities in early June of this year as US-bound exports of LAN cables (UTP), another telecommunication product of LSCV, surged.
