LS Marine Solution announced on the 9th that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for submarine cable construction for the Shinan Ui Offshore Wind Power Project near Uido Island, Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, Korea.

The offshore wind power project will be 390 MW in scale and will be led by a consortium including Hanwha Ocean and SK Eternix. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, submarine cable construction in 2027, and commercial operation in early 2029.

LS Marine Solution won this project following its contract with the Taiwan Power Corporation TPC2 (295 MW) project and its selection as the preferred bidder for Haesong Offshore Wind Power (1 GW). With this, LS Marine Solution has once again proven its construction and global execution capabilities.

The company explained that its successful construction experience in the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Power Complex 1 project in 2024 and its close cooperation with Hanwha Ocean from the planning stage of the wind farm were the main factors behind this selection.

“This project is the practical starting point of the Shinan Offshore Wind Power Belt, which is planned to have a scale of 8.2 GW," said Kim Byung-ok, CEO of LS Marine Solution. "We expect this selection to be a stepping stone for our participation in follow-up projects.”

LS Marine Solution is also ramping up its presence in the HVDC submarine cable market. The company is also actively participating in the West Coast HVDC Energy Highway project, which it expects to be worth trillions of won based on its experience constructing the Jeju submarine power grid and the only HVDC cable laying vessel in Korea.
