■ Entering AI data center power infrastructure market to secure new growth engine
■ Expanding from solar power to AI data centers, with exports to US projected to reach KRW 200 billion
■ Expanding AI power infrastructure business with LSCUS securing KRW 5 trillion in busduct orders
Gaon Cable (CEO Jeong Hyun) announced on the 4th that it will supply approximately KRW 35 billion worth of power transmission cables to AI data center power grids in the US through a local power infrastructure supplier.
This represents the company’s initial entry into the AI data center power grid market, and related revenue is expected to expand to KRW 100 billion this year. With investments in AI data centers expanding, demand in this sector is projected to continue growing.
Gaon Cable already supplies approximately KRW 100 billion worth of cables annually to US solar power plant grid construction projects. With the addition of the AI data center power grid market, US exports are projected to double to approximately KRW 200 billion this year.
LSCUS, the company’s US subsidiary, is also growing rapidly. Having recently secured long-term busduct supply contracts worth over KRW 5 trillion with global big tech companies, it is cementing its position as a core supplier in the US AI data center power infrastructure market.
With these developments, Gaon Cable has established a business structure capable of supplying both external power grid cables and internal power distribution busducts for AI data centers.
"We plan to strengthen our local business foundation in the US and foster the AI power infrastructure market as a core growth axis," said Jeong Hyun, CEO of Gaon Cable. "With the markets for AI data centers and renewable energy power grids expanding, we anticipate record-breaking annual results this year."
Buoyed by the expansion of high-value-added markets such as the AI data center power infrastructure market, Gaon Cable achieved its highest-ever first-quarter results this year, with revenue and operating profit increasing by 19.4% and 27.2%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
