      ■ Order backlog increases to KRW 820 billion, with all three vessels in full operation

LS Marine Solution has secured a submarine cable laying project in Malaysia, expanding its overseas power grid business following a recent contract in Taiwan.

The company announced on the 14th that it is currently loading submarine cables onto its cable laying vessel, the GL2030, at Donghae Port in Gangwon Province. The cables will be used in a project in Langkawi, Malaysia.

Once loading is complete, the GL2030 will transit to Malaysia and is slated to complete the laying work within this year. The project will connect Langkawi Island to the mainland with 132 kV submarine cables, and was awarded to LS Cable & System by Tenaga Nasional Berhad.

This marks the first deployment of the GL2030 since it was upgraded from a 4,000-ton to a 7,000-ton vessel. The expanded capacity allows it to lay more than 100 km of submarine cables continuously, which significantly strengthens the company's capacity to handle long-distance, large-capacity projects.

The Langkawi project is the company's second overseas power project, following TPC2, an offshore wind farm of the Taiwan Power Company. The company also recently secured the KRW 156.9 billion Sinan Ui submarine cable construction project, raising its order backlog to approximately KRW 820 billion. This outstrips its 2025 annual revenue of KRW 244.2 billion by more than three times.

With the deployment of the GL2030, all three of the company's vessels are now in full operation. The other vessels are engaged in submarine cable installation and maintenance projects in Taiwan and the Pacific region.

With the upgraded operational capabilities of the GL2030, LS Marine Solution plans to aggressively target large-scale projects both at home and abroad. As the Sinan Ui and Taean offshore wind farms and the West Coast HVDC Energy Highway project kick into high gear, the company is establishing a firm foundation for future growth, with further projects expected in the near future.

"LS Marine Solution is the only company with experience in domestic HVDC submarine cable installation," said a company spokesperson. "We aim to win more orders for key power grid projects, including the West Coast Energy Highway."
