Gaon Cable (CEO Jeong Hyun) and DL E&C (CEO Park Sang-shin) have completed on-site verification of a jointly developed next-generation cable construction method and are now fast-tracking the commercialization process.

Gaon Cable announced on the 25th that it has verified the performance and constructability of its aluminum clad flex (ACF) cable, a piping-integrated product, through a joint pilot application with DL E&C at a new apartment construction site. The ACF cable will be used in new DL E&C apartment buildings starting next year.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in 2023 for the "joint research and development of an exposed construction method (ACF cable)" with the aim of advancing technology and optimizing construction.

The ACF cable features a power cable encased by an aluminum sheath with piping functions. By combining the processes of pipe installation and wire insertion, this next-generation power distribution solution can cut construction costs by up to 20-30% and shorten construction periods. Gaon Cable is currently the only company in Korea commercializing or supplying such a product.

Previously, a lack of standard guidelines made it difficult to use the ACF cable exposed construction method at new apartment sites. To overcome this, the two companies developed dedicated construction methods and accessory materials. They also improved construction efficiency and quality by accurately calculating material quantities using DL E&C's building information modeling design.

In addition to apartment buildings, ACF cables can also be used for logistics centers, plants, and various other buildings. In remodeling projects, they can be installed in confined spaces without the need to remove existing pipes or install new ones, which can cause structural damage to buildings.
