Gaon Cable (CEO Jeong Hyun) is ramping up its North American business by entering the Canadian power market.
The company announced on the 9th that it recently supplied medium-voltage cables to a major public power company in western Canada.
This marked Gaon Cable's first exports to Canada, as well as the company’s first success in its efforts to expand into the public power grid sector in North America. The company has previously focused on private industrial facilities such as AI data centers, semiconductor plants, and power plants.
This milestone proves that the quality and technological competitiveness of Korea's No. 1 power distribution cable supplier hold true in the overseas public power market as well.
Now that it has successfully entered the overseas public infrastructure market, which is known for its high entry barriers, Gaon Cable expects to have an advantage when bidding on future public projects in North America.
With the expansion of AI data centers and the growth of high-tech manufacturing, the Canadian government expects national power demand to approximately double by 2050 and is pushing forward with several large-scale transmission and distribution network expansion and modernization projects. Demand for power cables is expected to grow apace.
With exports to Canada under its belt, Gaon Cable plans to expand more rapidly in the North American market. Thanks to supply chain synergy between its headquarters and LSCUS, its production subsidiary in North Carolina, the company's North American revenue is on track to grow by more than 50%, jumping from approximately USD 300 million in 2025 to USD 470 million this year.
"Entering the Canadian public power grid market is a major milestone that will improve the fundamentals of our North American business and broaden our scope," said Jeong Hyun, CEO of Gaon Cable. "We will continue to strengthen our position in the North American power infrastructure market, in both the US and Canada."
